Helping people create a place called home

Shelter to Home

We’re providing furniture and household items to people on the North Shore transitioning from homelessness to independent living.

We believe that acts of compassion can change lives.

Our mission is to provide furniture and household items, at no cost, to people living on the North Shore, who are either transitioning from homelessness to independent living, or who are living on extremely limited incomes.  We gratefully accept furniture donations (and financial contributions) from residents of North Vancouver and West Vancouver.  We coordinate with local agencies to help our clients establish a comfortable home.

February 2022 Update

February has been a busy month working with 28 clients!! And donations have been steady.  The Wednesday Wonder Women had to return additional days to finish sorting all that came in.  Furniture has done a “feast to famine” cycle and back again. Our clients this month have included victims of the fire on 12th street in North Van, refugees from Ukraine and Iran, people from “Health Connections” an outreach program of Vancouver Coastal Health and others referred by churches or by some of our former clients.

Shelter to Home is supported by the generous residents of the North Shore through donations of furniture and household goods, and by the financial support of individuals and organizations.  Information about our partners is available on the "Community" tab.

How can you help?

We accept gently used furniture and household items from North Shore residents.  We welcome cash donations from everyone to cover the cost of storage and moving.
