Donors are a huge part of the Shelter to Home story. We have received everything from couches, beds chests of drawers and dining tables, to cutlery, dishes, bed linen and towels, from a wide variety of people from North and West Vancouver. Without these donations there would be nothing to give away. Also our donors give us financial donations to help with the cost of moving the furniture. Some donors drop off one item at our Wednesday drop-off, others give us the entire contents of an apartment. Many of our donors are down-sizing, and are grateful that good furniture will not end up in the land-fill. One donor was so pleased with our service to our clients that he has become a regular financial donor. Another donor has joined the Shelter to Home team!!

At the beginning of the month our donor phone-line team received the following email:

I just wanted to say thank you to you and the volunteers at Shelter to Home for guiding me and taking the household items from my sister’s apartment. I think what you all do is amazing and am so grateful that my sister’s things are being put to good use by people who really need it.

I feel if I had made a few decisions in my life differently, I would be in need of folks like you. I don’t think people realize how close most of us are to being in that situation.

By donating to such a wonderful cause, it has made such a difficult task of clearing everything, so much easier. Thank you to you all. I think my sister would have approved.
